Please be gentle with any new fedis. Give them time to learn. Before replying with advice please go to the original post and check the replies to make sure you're not dogpiling them, or better yet give them a chance to look around and get a sense of the place before insisting on your favorite behavior (even if that behavior is good to do!).
If they wanna stick around, they'll adapt in time (or we will adapt to them! That's the beauty of new fedis), but if they get immediately screamed at by everyone, they won't wanna stick around.
If you really want people to not be stuck in the corporate web, you have to understand that people are coming from extremely different information ecosystems and extend a bit of grace. The thing that is the opposite of successful in challenging the dominance of the corporate web is the "I dont want new people" or "new people must behave themselves" attitudes that give them little reason to not just bounce back to the other platforms.
Clearly I am not saying "allow hateful shit and anything goes," but everything short of that, give new people time and welcome them.

Recommending and boosting this advice to be chill with newcomers.
People arrive here with the preconception that Mastodon is hard and that folks here are scoldy.
If the first thing they encounter, after figuring out the 'which server should I choose?' headscratcher, is a bunch of criticism for how they post here, like not using alt-text or too many hashtags, it is really frustrating.
Let's be welcoming and give folks a chance to settle in.
