I am doing my once-per-three years "dont have busted ass socks" shopping, and im wondering if anyone has done the thing where they get a set of darn tough socks and just keep replacing them for free until they die

@jonny I only heard of and bought Darn Tough within the last year or so. Haven't made a toe hole in one yet. But look forward to that warranty if it happens.

@jonny that’s the only thing I wear and I haven’t had holes in.. many years

@skinnylatte
Ok good. I actually have never had to replace mine, does it actually work like they say it does and you just get more socks?! -

@ml
I have yet to cause any visible damage to mine in 6 years and I have hiked in them pretty hard as well as wear them every week... I have two generations of REI socks, one older set is still going strong but a younger set that's ostensibly the same thing are in tatters. Its amazing how like in this world where im used to everything being hype and spin that there is just like genuinely a way to make things immortal we just choose not to. -

@jonny Yup. Someone posted this article today and it seems to be going on even in bikes, which was one of the last bastions of basic repairable machine. https://www.ifixit.com/News/101675/bike-manufacturers-are-making-bikes-less-repairable
