My car dealer is sending me annoying “Upgrade Your Ride" emails.

Note: I absolutely *love* our 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric. It's at 181,000km now and so some bits and pieces are starting to show a little wear. But overall, excellent vehicle and it would be near the top of the list of any new car I'd purchase if for some reason that was on the table (with caveats already noted!) #Cars #Electric #EV

@chris I agree -we also like our 2023 Kona EV. I think the 2025 SEL is a bit bigger (with the same range and battery size), so that's where the innovation went.

@chris i've heard some people say they buy a new car every two years. they probably are perpetually working to pay for the car.

@silicatefondue it does lool like a new platform for the 2025 Kona compared to the quite aged 2019 Gas and Electric models.

@diedofheartbreak I just can't imagine how that would be economical.

@chris @silicatefondue
We almost got one of those but opted for the #Ioniq5 because we need AWD (live on a mountain....snow). It is hands down the best car we ever had.Not surprised to hear your battery is still giving range within spec. A lot of misinformation about these things.

@sleepy62 @silicatefondue full disclosure: the battery was replaced under recall/warranty in 2022. However, *after* that, we drove across Canada. We have not noticed any deterioration. And before then was the pandemic. We didn't put many km on it I think we were at 50k before the battery swap.

@chris @sleepy62 @silicatefondue my friend has a 22 and his range suffers horribly in the winter. He barely gets 200 km to a charge.

@alessandro @sleepy62 @silicatefondue that's different from the overall range/capacity of the battery.
Yes, in very cold conditions (below -5C) the use of the heater will reduce the range considerably.
That's why I am honestly surprised they have not increased the capacity of the battery. At the very least, it would lessen the impact of the use of the heater on range.
I'm on the West Coast so it's less of an issue.

@alessandro @sleepy62 @silicatefondue my original point on battery age is that over the years, the maximum capacity/range I can achieve is within the same range as advertised. No one should go in expecting the sticker-range to be the same as what you’ll get in Winnipeg in January. If they're not telling people that, then they're not being honest at the dealership (shocker!)
