I find it intriguing looking at the PurpleAir se to network and how air quality across large areas moves and degrades together.
I wonder, is this weather conditions that keep pollution in place or can you see pollution moving from one region to another as winds push it around?

@maleve air pollution is very sensitive to local air pressure effects. As the air cools at night it sinks and can often drag down air pollution with it. In the day, the air will lift and allow pollution or smoke to vent.

@chris it’s all just thermodynamics isn’t it.

@maleve and a little bit of fluid dynamics too. Air will “drain” to lower elevation areas. We see this in #PortAlberni as air drains from other places in the valley to sea level at the harbour it will pull wood fire smoke with it.
