And that's why the best part of this proposal is this:
โThe Greens' proposal also calls for hourly services on key regional routesโThat will require a big new investment into something that has been neglected for decades.
The #BCNDP should be copying this promise!

@chris Sadly, BC NDP is busy with incorporating conservative talking points into their program.
I believe free/discounted transit passes or tax deductions for people making less than X could be a good alternative to free transit.

@Anibyl those programs (though not always free) actually do already exist! Look for the BC Bus Pass program!
What I am advocating for is actually this:

This is what all parties should be asked to support when it comes to public transit improvements in BC! We need a plan and we need to reconnect all of BC again!

@chris Yeah but BC Bus Pass doesn't cover youth or adults.

@chris at some point we are going to reach the maximum water-usage for the Metro Van area. We need to make it easier to live further away, delaying any water shortage issues.
Of course, water shortage issues are going to increase thanks to climate change too.

@Anibyl @chris Means tested support is all well and good, but the change to "free" is the change to thinking about transit like we think about roads (a tax-supported public service) as opposed to a money-losing business.
The hope is that in the long run that mentality change can actually drive more investment in transit, but it's by no means guaranteed.

@Anibyl for sure. It should!
