I like a lot of the photos but I think I have to tag this one as my favourite overall because of what it might represent!
Yes it is a tiny pile of poop at the peak!. (There were lots of blueberries right to the top!)
I think it might be from an endangered Vancouver Island Marmot! I will check with friends who know! How cool would that be? They are shy and obviously rare so this is probably the closest I will ever get!

They are getting about! I have a scat and tracks book, but only for eastern Canada.

@chris I forgot how far away Haida Gwaii is from Vancouver Island

@EricFielding yep! A big Island. Direct distance from me to the epicentre is about 489km. We were most of the way down the mountain by the time it hit. I wouldn’t want to feel a shaker at the top or on the trail! Lots of loose rocks on steep slopes to fall about!

Last post to this thread. If you want the gory stats from the hike, here is my strava data for the uphill section. My watch doubt have enough juice to record the downhill trek. Moving time was only 1.2hrs but there were quite a few breaks! lol 2:45 up, some crazies could do it in less than 60 minutes, basically jogging up steep mountain!

A grind but very doable. Excellent scenery. Dramatic bluffs. Well travelled. The trail is quite eroded in spots which makes coming down more challenging sometimes than the climb but overall a great summit! I am out of shape so took me just under 3hr up and 2.5 down including stops. | Strava

Alright one more... I was looking at the heart rate graph... and yup, there it is, the moment about 1km in where, for about 30 seconds, I considered turning around.
I had overheated. Had a loong pause on a wet log. lol
But after that, it was hard, but good.I am not in the shape I was 10 years ago and I'm ok with that! lol

I am not is the shape I was 1 year ago, which was pretty good. One "catastrophic cascading medical crisis" later, and my hiking days are complete weak sauce now.
Sorry. Just having a tiny pity party today.
Trying to focus on my docs all commenting that I'm "doing GREAT, all things considered."
So, there's that.Take care. Stay cool. Hydrate.

@wren nothing wrong with a tiny pity party! Here's hoping the sauce spices up a bit over time. Good Health to you!
