Meetup.com is so over
Meetup's gone from community king to overpriced ghost town, thanks to Bending Spoons. Enshittification strikes again! Now what?
-
@andypiper Most meetup groups there died over COVID, and no one's going back.
-
@davidgs some came back after COVID; Bending Spoons were the last straw.

@andypiper Yo. There's "Get Together" made by @mhall119 (but is currently inaccessible from the UK for some weird reason I don't understand). I have used it in the past. It's open source, so you can host your own. Sadly it's a little outdated/unmaintained. I spun up an instance to test it, and it works for me.

@andypiper thanks for the write up! I've been eyeing a few of these, but not systematically and there are some new to me also.

@plaindocs yeah, there are a few more being suggested in the replies to my post (Mobilizon, EventHunt etc), this has been good to learn more about the options.

@hashraydamon I mentioned that in the post, Evernote is already dead.
