Is anyone working on #P2P server software compatible with #ActivityPub? It seems natural to be able to donate network resources instead of cash, and would make services even more difficult to censor.

@caten the nice thing about AP and why it works over p2p is because the protocol is really just about the JSON data structures, the transport isn't very important, i posted a lot about this last year.

@heapwolf That sounds great! I don't know the details of how Mastodon instances federate with each other, but I imagine that I would probably need a static IP or a URL for my P2P instance to talk to traditional instances, right?

@caten another possibility was to use a decentralized protocol as an alternative to DNS to set up instances unique name. Mostly crypto ids. For exemple .onion of the Tor protocol or hosting instances on https://yggdrasil-network.github.io/ but that won't connect to the rest of the "DNS fedi"
