#Ebikes are great.
Yesterday #Sheffield & #Rotherham #coffee deliveries were done on #ebike. Nearly 60km under 3 hours. No petrol used. Obvs some charging of batteries but unlike #EV cars it's 20kg of metal and not 2000kg. 100 times the difference.
There's a place for electric cars but this wouldn't have been much faster in one. If we build for #cycling, essential car journeys become easier.
The EV switch is often more about saving the car industry, not the environment.

@roastinghouse I've recently been watching “London Eats” on YouTube delivering in London (unsurprisingly), and getting around is clearly much faster by ebike than it would be by car. Sadly, too many towns and cities prioritise cars over more efficient means of transport.
Also, why privately owned scooters aren't legal in the UK is baffling. The government needs to regulate them, and allow people to buy and use them on the road.

@andycarolan Electric #Scooters would be a game changer.
If we as a business could be insured to ride them then our other "local" delivery are #Nottingham would allow a train journey, scoot around, maybe a tram, back on the train.
But we use the car because that's what we're allowed to do. That's what is built for. Car is an ULEV but it wouldn't be as good as public transport & scoot.
Getting a #cargobike on the train isn't a guarantee so not a chance worth taking. Time is money after all.

@roastinghouse eScooters have been in a state of limbo for years. It's a shame as I think they would make sense for so many people.
My car is a ULEV, but around town, it's not any quicker than a scooter lol... purely because of causing/being part of the traffic.
Need a shakeup as far as personal transport goes imo.
