I don't approve Matt Mullenweg's language when he talks about "cancer"; if you are the platform's founder you can't be the first to violate code of conduct by using harassing speech - cancer is a condition no one should feel guilty for.

Many metaphors could be better used such as poison, pollution, the concept is clear: there are companies ruining open source projects for profit and this behaviour must stop. That's the position, but there are better ways to express them. #wordpress#speech

@talksina you made a point. I too was troubled at the use of this word as an adjective to denigrate a company's strategy. Using a medical condition as an insult totally damages the message (and even more). It’s like mental illness stigma as an insult…

@jrouet I am so angry about this all! Then, I just heard another voice, the other side: Automattic has even more restrictions (plugins in low cost and free plans) so it's like the donkey saying that the horse has long ears. We must defend #WordPress community, its values, its purpose.

@talksina I honestly don’t know what to think about the whole thing which is just starting… I have the feeling we miss the initial reason of why this started. It’s still blurry and I am missing so much about the context… I’ve read so much things from different point of views that it’s hard to land on a personal position.

@jrouet I could say the same thing, btw I am the last person wanting to feed a flame "one against the other". Could WordPress stay without Automattic, or without any big companies sponsoring? I have a questionmark bigger than Everest about this and no skill to establish what impact everything might have. What I know, many licenses allow customers to deeply modify something and offer services, so in the end one should say "no more restrictions? Let's change license type".
