From week before last, my contribution to #CarryShitOlympics. I did in fact move a child into a Boston apartment on the worst moving day of the year (September 1), by staging 4 loads earlier in the week into empty space at work, then all four the last 1.8 miles on moving day. Here's two of those loads, and bike+trailer parking that worked much better than I had expected.

@dr2chase I really feel like if I had room in my living room for more than one bike, and didn't have to carry bikes up and down stairs all the time, I'd probably buy a cargo bike and do most of my errands on them. The most distant supermarket I regularly shop it is still only three miles away, that should be easy to do by bike, but not so much by road bike.

@wollman @dr2chase I have a road bike and I do it, but caveats:
1. I am only shopping for one person
and
2. I put a rack on my road bike and bought panniers, which made a *huge* difference in the amount I could easily transport in one go (I only have a rear rack and panniers, but I think @sam did something similar with both front and back and manages larger shops than I do) -

@SRLevine @wollman @dr2chase mine's setup more hybrid-y than road and I specifically bought this frame/fork because it had the mount points for it that I wanted, but yah it *really* improved my shopping experience once I added the front rack.
Couldn't find a picture with front panniers, but here's one from before the April elections.

@SRLevine @dr2chase @sam My road bike is way too fancy for that. I had panniers on my old Cannondale touring bike but it's *so* much less comfortable than the roadie (and that's saying something) and *so* heavy and I'd have to drag it upstairs from the basement to ride it at all... so I basically haven't since 2015. When I was bike commuting I could put my work clothes in a backpack (and store the bike securely in my office); doesn't work for groceries.
