Two of my #Zigbee bulbs have died, after 5 years of service. That's not bad, but I'm worried about the cost of replacing a dozen of them.

Does anyone have a good source for cheap GU10 Zigbee bulbs?
Hue and Innr bulbs are about £10 - £15 each.
eBay has no-brand ones for about £7.
AliExpress has discount ones for £1 - £5, but usually limited to one per customer.
A regular GU10 is about a quid!

@Edent Would it be possible \ cheaper to look at replacing the switch with a ZigBee one rather than the bulbs? Or are you looking at individual control?
-
@aidan_walsh No. UK switches don't require neutral wiring to the switch.
I've been down this rabbit hole several times. -
@webmink @fallenhitokiri
Thanks! I'll take a look at them. -
@Edent even the expensive hue bulbs start to malfunction after about 5 years. Especially the white-only ones. I’ve had at least two that no longer switch completely off, only go dim. I’m starting to think smart switches are the way to go
-
@Edent @webmink @fallenhitokiri these fail too, especially in higher humidity areas eg utility rooms with dryers etc. They begin to flicker
-
@tomhannen I've looked into this. Most UK homes don't have neutral to the switch. Which means smart switches are difficult - you need to use an adapter like this https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2017/05/internet-connected-lightswitches-redux/

@Edent @aidan_walsh I fitted sonoff minis above the lighting rose when I was in a house that suffered from that issue.

@Edent @aidan_walsh you can get ZigBee light switches that work *without* a neutral. I am using them without problems
-
@csimmonds oh! Which ones? Thanks
