Sometimes, I think about that guy that said “I’m embarrassed that I ever hooked you up for that podcast interview. You don’t know anything about the Fediverse.”

I know it was one person. At the end of the day, you just have to have a thicker skin. But, that kind of feedback sticks with me. I never said I was good at anything I was doing. I do what I do out of a place of love and passion, and recent years have started to wear out both of those things.
I think disagreements are fine, and I try to go out of my way to keep an open mind, throttle my own biases, and be kind to other people. I don’t believe in just staying in an isolated bubble, or creating a group that agrees with everything I say uncritically. My mind flip-flops on a lot of different things, because life is messy and people are complicated, and I’m open to publicly admitting that I can be wrong.
It’s just…so easy to take for granted that much of what we put out into the world is the byproduct of hours and hours of hard work.
