Found some magic lightning and smoke. Guess I have a new project, brb.

@sgsax I was dumb and lucky on this one.

Dumb: I used metal tweezers to push in a connector, evidently I made contact with the pins causing a dead short burning a trace or ribbon cable conductor. If only I had turned off the power.‍️

Lucky: both the component and the mainboard were undamaged, so it just took splicing a new wire on to the component and running it directly to the mainboard.

Still, i planned on napping during the time I was making the repair.
