@virtualinanity A very good question. At the very least, this and so much else reminds us that money does not buy happiness.

@Godfrey642 Perhaps what we're seeing now more in focus is how blatant this all is.

America is at a dangerous crossroads... what shall it be?
Democracy or the road to absolute power for the few.
Democracy could just die in darkness...

@wdlindsy I always refuse to remember articles, which mix facts and opinions.

@wdlindsy It's not only the anti-trust threat. Rember the "Jedi Cloud" programme that had been awarded to Microsoft after Trump had a meltdown over the Bezos and the WaPo? Jedi was scrapped later, and the successor programme's split between Microsoft, AWS, and Google. Bezos knows that Harris would never interfere but a wannabe dictator like Trump would. For the same reason, btw, Microsoft's and Google's AI refused to tell you who won the 2020 election. https://winbuzzer.com/2024/06/07/ai-chatbots-from-google-and-microsoft-sidestep-2020-election-outcome-xcxwbn/

@wdlindsy I wonder whether it's cowardice… it may just be self-interest.

@wdlindsy
Precisely.
Govt in any country has to govern for the ppl not just the elite. The elite never seem to hear the word No. They act with impunity on the national and global stage. Im very very very concerned about the global reach of not just Musk but operators like Bezos and Zuckerberg plus of course the banks.Most govt fiscal policy will take around 3yrs to "mature". So Obama's policies in his 2nd term cushioned Trump. Trumps mess and tax cuts for the wealthy hit Biden before 2022 mid terms.
If ppl are finding prices high it's bc companies are price gouging to make profits for shareholders and wages are not rising in line with inflation. Prices never drop. Wages have to rise. But companies aren't doing this.
Interest rates are controlled by banks and they never act for the little ppl only the top dogs. The whole thing stinks of rampant free market.
Ppl complain about handouts to those that need support (elderly, disabled, vets, trans, poor, refugees etc)
The biggest handouts go to ppl at the top in tax breaks that they don't need.#freemarket #greedflation #usapolitics #CapitalismIsFailingYou

@Godfrey642 Yes, good analysis for sure.

@sellathechemist Perhaps it's both, but, like you, I'm inclined to see self-interest as dominant here.
-
@DP0 Yes, there's a long backstory here of Trump's threats against Bezos and Amason.

@ralph I think one would be hard-pressed to find articles that convey fact without also conveying the opinion, slant, bias, etc., of those writing the articles.
-
@xs4me2 Yes, you're right.
