I get why Bluesky is appealing to current refugees from X. The 'tone' of Threads is far too influencer-smarmy, and there's also only so many opinions about Dave Grohl and Perry Farrell that I'm willing to read. I know many "normies" don't like Mastodon — someone once compared Mastodon more to Usenet than Twitter, which is about right. Bluesky, if it continues to scale, could be more like what Twitter once was, before it got trashed. We'll see, but I do get why Bluesky appeals more than Threads.

Based on my observations here in Brazil, Bluesky is unlikely to become the political arena that Twitter once was. The political implications of the #XBan will prevent any single platform from accommodating both sides of the spectrum as Twitter once did. This presents an opportunity for the Fediverse to become the hub that connects the social web.
