I had a realization this week which hit me like a lightning bolt: aside from the occasional hardware review, there is no reason I can't just exist on the road. Out in nature. On the trail.
Find some WiFi, check in on the world, write some words about it, and get the hell back out again.
For what feels like the first time in my life, I can actually be a digital nomad. I'm going for it. I may never have this chance again.

@killyourfm Hah! I had exactly. the same realisation recently when the kids turned 18 & 21.
-
@popey That's exciting! Do you have a bucket list? Any formal plans yet?
-
@killyourfm No plans. Not thought beyond "Do I _really_ need to own a house?"
-
@popey If you ALREADY own one, maybe hang onto it for dear life . Or don't since they're just money pits.
I know, I'm not helping.
-
@killyourfm Do it! I did this a few years ago, and it was fantastic and life changing.
-
@thed34n Do you mind sharing what you did in a general sense? Any highlights? Just curious! I love stories like these.
-
@killyourfm But your garden will miss you?

@killyourfm you bet. Put my things in storage and did mostly AirBnB across the US. Had a job where I only needed an internet connection, which was easy to find. Did a nice combo of big cities and smaller, mostly places I had never been before. Almost exclusively in the US, although that wasn’t initially my plan. Just enjoyed knocking stayed off my list.

@killyourfm I think if I were to do it now (Airbnb has only gotten more expensive, even for extended stays), I would get a small camper or preferably a minivan. Something I could park and camp in, but also be able to take into a city if I went that way. How are you thinking about doing it?
-
@thed34n On foot, mostly hiking!
-
@thed34n That's awesome! This was also my original plan when I came back from Croatia, but I ended up finding this nice little place in Merced and settled... until now.
