The way this Tech Crunch article is phrased, you'd might walk away thinking that the Ford Foundation's "large grant" made up a lion's share of the #SocialWebFoundation's financial support.

But only $50k of the One Million Dollars in funding for the #SWF came from The Ford Foundation, back in February of this year.
The other $950,000?

@fromjason how do you know the $50k grant is connected to SWF?
It says Exchange Point Institute and there's very little information that I could find about what that is.

@fromjason There is an award ($90K?) from Summer of Protocols. https://forum.summerofprotocols.com/t/sop-2024-pig-and-pog-grantees/1270

@omz13 I didn't see any mention of Social Web Foundation or Exchange Point in the team section of the submission.
And Summer of Protocols isn't listed as a partner on the SWF website.
Too much money to keep track of. They should really get a spreadsheet going.

@fromjason Summer of Protocols was an individual submission (and the foundation wasn’t up at that time). It is mentioned under their projects (see E2EE).
For transparency it would be good to see SWF detail their funding sources and amounts.
