The general lack of privacy controls across decentralized systems are not an oversight, but a calculated omission.
When the tech gods descended from Mt. Allbirds to anoint the #OpenSocialWeb movement, they sold it as their atonement for the sins of Web 2.0.
But there's a type of pretexting happening here where we're being conditioned to view our privacy as public domain🧵

@fromjason @jenniferplusplus There is a difference between Open Standards and what I’m going to call Open Content. Open Content does not need to be 100% open just because it’s delivered by Open Standards like web, ActivityPub etc.; it should be “open” to whoever the creator/owner deems it should be open to (the audience), and not necessarily fully public by default. Moderate who can read, not what you can read: you (the content creator) should be in control and not be controlled.
