Still no heating on as yet. Might just make it to November. Running the dehumidifier which gives out heat as a by product bit radiators remain off Keep eyeing off some zigbee TRV's #Heating #UK #CostofLiving
-
A modest outlay but a storage heater makes a huge difference and quickly pays for itself.
-
@lionelb I'd need to be on cheap rate night leccy for that to work I imagine . Ideally I'd love to disconnect the gas altogether but right now could not afford to.
-
@emsquared a lot to be said for lowering humidity and warmth. Sure makes it feel colder at the same temperature if it’s humid indoors.
-
@lionelb but yeah. Partial Off-grid with batteries and / or a guarantee that cheap night rates won't get phased out I'm sure a modern storage heater would be great. More expensive than gas probably but more sustainable.
-
@bobthomson70 yes. The dehumidifier is the best thing we've bought in the last 10 years. Don't have a tumble dryer. There are cheaper running dehumidifiers about these days (our is dessicant so around 300w.There are compressor types that state circa 160w but these are less efficient at colder temps) but the one we have helps ward off putting the rads on until really needed.
-
Mine is cheaper than gas because 100% efficient and I am on a great tariff.
-
Also zero maintenance or replacement for 20 years. Unlike gas.
-
@lionelb would access to those was universal but good luck to you
-
@lionelb yes. That is a big advantage.
