I wonder if my posts don't do well on Bluesky due to my long username due to the bridge.... Maybe

@sam Bsky is much more algorithm based. You have to get your post onto an algorithm for it to really be seen I believe. So right wording, hashtag. Right people engaging. You know how it goes elsewhere.

The problem I'm seeing is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of impetus for anyone who's set up home on bsky to want to bridge back. They've found their new place; wider interaction isn't a priority. I check my bridged account - especially when we're live-posting about TV, because bsky has way more traction on that sort of thing - but the replies I'll get on the bridged account never make it to notifications here where I'm based as the bridge is one-way. A bit frustrating.

@neonbubble @sam Luckily I only bridge for a few specific things. I've prodded and used the DM service with the bridge app that requests they bridge back but only a few do which is OK. The downside of the furore that happened here when the bridge was announced (I fully back the privacy concerns). It is what it is. Threads is barely any better. For most outside of here the idea of the fediverse means nothing (& probs is too complex).

@[email protected] @[email protected] there’s a DM fediverse thing?
-
@sam @neonbubble if you are bridged to Bsky & you can see who is following you on Bsky you can DM their Bsky address to (@) [email protected] & they DM that Bsky user a polite invitation to bridge back. One address per DM, max 10 requests a day. They will only ever do this once.
