*Everyone* was on G+ (look it up) until they made it so that your user was a YouTube user... -
@emsquared I was on G+, too. Aside from the fact that it was Google (which I now studiously avoid), it was a nice platform. It was especially photo friendly and had a lot of photographers at one time.

@analogfusion Yes I thought it was well laid out. Very similar to Diaspora in terms of layout.

@emsquared I was intrigued by the concept behind Diaspora, but it seemed like the technical barrier for entry was too high - like a self-moderated newsgroup that required "waving the chicken" (manually editing a header) in order to post.

@rebeccafinn yep remember ootube comments requiring a G+ account. They were not happy.

@analogfusion It worked well but like so many of these things not easy for casual users to self host. Big shame but that's how it goes.
