Late in the day but cleared a lot of annoying weeds from the brick driveway (I always swore I'd never have a brick driveway but best laid plans eh) with 3kg of salt brushed into the cracks where the weeds grow.

@emsquared will need to try that trick on the brick part here. There is a tiled terrace and then a bricked part between the lawn and the pool and the gravel bit and it’s a pain in the arse to clean and weed.
-
@bobthomson70 yeah. Got one of those wire brush things but it's tedious. Tried a power washer but that is way too messy and dislodge too much of the foundation under the bricks. White vinegar works temporarily but I'm told repeated salt use will eventually stop weeds altogether as the levels increase.

@emsquared if there's cement anywhere around though it might not like all that salt
-
@rivets I know. I haven't overused it and it isn't near cement. I should really used weedkiller but I hate that stuff. I have used sodium hypochlorite to get algae off in the past which does mostly kill the weeds by default. When at our old place I had a flame gun.
-
@emsquared I use a flame gun and I also have an electric gun like a paint stripper that I got from Aldi. The local newspaper endlessly recommends salt and vinegar but I'm never sure about it. I mean it works, but they're both a bit corrosive.

@rivets yeah probs why I try not to overdo it. Will have to get a flame gun. I have seen a premium priced similar gadget that kills weeds with a kind of sonic shock plate
