Fedi, I'm looking for temperature and humidity sensors compatible with Home Assistant. Preferably Wi-Fi (fuck hubs). One needs to have a nice display so we can chuck it on a wall in one of our living rooms, the others should not have a display and be small.

@thomholwerda I got an air-Q Basic a few weeks ago and it seems great so far honestly. Sensors for temp + humidity + CO2 + CO + particulates, nice optional app that includes sensor data evaluation (what do the numbers mean for your health), skippable cloud integration (I use it local-only), straightforward API, integrations for I think just about everything including Home Assistant.
Downsides: (a) I had to downgrade my wifi from WPA3 to WPA2 for it, and (b) the price.

@thomholwerda whilst I agree Fuck Hubs, getting into a low power standard, such as ZigBee, really helps with options and power needs. The newer ZigBee 3 Temp/Humidity sensors, such as the Sonoff SNZB-02D, have been solid in use for me. House construction may vary.

Yeah, super happy with these. They last over a year on a CR2032, and are quick enough to update to use for vent control in the shower.
Zigbee stick can be had super cheap, although my recommendation is https://tubeszb.com/, made my a HA enthusiast with love.
This should also set you up for Matter in the future, which is our best chance for widespread, industry-standard _local_ device control.

@mattdm @joshaspinall @thomholwerda I agree ZigBee is worth thinking about. I've got a super cheap PoE (although can also just be USB) dongle and super cheap thermometers and they just work. Can also repurpose old IKEA light switches to do other stuff.

@edbo @joshaspinall @thomholwerda
Yeah — it's cool that Ikea just works, and also Philips just plain makes the best light bulbs.

Ikea's Zigbee window blinds are great if you have windows of the exact right size and don't mind kind of loud and slow.
