I'm no fan of mid 80s Bowie (I have a pristine, played only once vinyl of his Tonight album) but right now I have that 1985 non album hit made with an American jazz guitar composer playing in my head for some reason.

@emsquared I still love Loving the Alien. One of the few Bowie singles I ever bought. Had the 12 inch. https://youtu.be/l_mE5gf1B04?si=57wW1bx5WGpx_VuT

@bobthomson70 There are a few highlights (think I have a pristine 7" gatefold of that still) but will never forgive his cover of God only knows. Tonight and Pin Ups (which my partner loves) are my dead zone Bowie albums (Tho barely ever play Black tie, white noise either) . Even Bowie later admitted he was barely involved in Tonight and Never Let me down. But yeah. The spark is there but hey we all like different things.

@emsquared I even liked Jump They Say myself

@bobthomson70 Good single. Meh album. I didn't really come back to Bowie proper Until the album after BTWNoise which was the Buddha of Suburbia. That signalled, for me his return to form. There are some mid to late 80s nuggets. I loved Underground, When the wind Blows. I will never, ever like Tin Machine but that's just me. But then I did stop listening to much pop music between 86-90 in general. 90 onwards was a better landscape.

@emsquared I was never a huge Bowie or Prince fan. Appreciated the best of it all but didn’t buy it or listen to it a lot. Much of it is of course Mount Rushmore level music and pop culture landscape stuff.

@bobthomson70 be daft if we all liked the same things. I think I was the right age for Bowie to make an impact early on. Had a friend whose mother would turn the telly off if he came on TOTP. Way too "corrupting" for their puritism. Luckily I mostly loved his music (but he ain't beyond criticism).
