I cancelled; with the groundswell, I hoped to add to a message, and to give the money to a news source with owners not signaling support of or capitulation to a fascist. There’s no way before the election to mend what Bezos did. But the employees are doing important work & are the ones in danger from this fallout. Might resubscribe after.

@andrewabernathy @harrymccracken I wasn’t a subscriber, so I’ve no dog in this. But I *do* think an avalanche of unsubs sends a message. The ‘impact’ on folks who work there is theoretical at the moment, but also, historically when stuff like this happens, most people affected get picked up pretty quickly.
And as we’ve said before, it’s nearly impossible to hurt a billionaire. We can send a message that there’s a market for proper journalism, and someone will fill that niche.
