It was bring your kid to work day, and my niece picked me and asked if I can help her get into design and animation.
We had an amazing day, and even though I'm not skilled in those areas, I'm the only tech adjacent member of my family, I installed After Effects on my old M1 Air and she had a blast.
She asked if she could come over on weekends, and I said yes, but realistically that won't work because I stay up late and code, so I will lend her my old M1 until hers gets fixed.
Made my month 🥹

Oh and apparently using the laughing or laughing crying emoji makes you look old, "like a mom on facebook" and dang if that didn't make me feel old because thats my favourite emoji

As a (former) film editor and motion graphics designer who used to spend 9+ hours a day in Premiere and After Effects, I have to say to your niece that patience is key. It really does that the proverbial 10,000 hours to get good at it.
If you/she had a little budget, I’d buy cool templates on videohive.net and learn motion graphics by tinkering with them (instead of starting from scratch). Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

She's a bit shy about this, and I told her that she doesn't have to do a job she doesn't like (her mom doesn't know this is her passion), so I will have a talk with her mom and push her to embrace her passion of animation!
Just a few years ago she was using FlipaClip, and she already knows After Effects, its wild!

Blender is another way to go to let kids discover animation. It is Free and opensource!
