Scott Dworkin reports that less than 24 hours after Biden gave his final inspirational speech to the UN, coverage of it is not found on the homepage of most major news outlets, and when it's mentioned, corporate media are using to publish headlines taking pot-shots at Biden and his legacy.
So Dworkin offers highlights of the speech in which Biden stated,
"Some things are more important than staying in power."

“There will always be forces that pull our countries apart and the world apart: aggression, extremism, chaos, and cynicism, a desire to retreat from the world and go it alone. Our task, our test, is to make sure that the forces holding us together are stronger than those that are pulling us apart."
~ President Joe Biden quoted by Heather Cox Richardson
September 24, 2024
This morning, President Joe Biden spoke to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

@wdlindsy Who writes Biden's speeches? When I read Richardson's recap this am I felt like his speech was one for the ages.

@Swalsh I can't say I know anything about Biden's speechwriter. And, yes, I agree that his speech was really inspiring — and also, unfortunately, easily mocked by the very cynics the corporate media now wants to put front and center to make it appear that Biden has accomplished little (with the implication, and I think this is there in their treatment of Biden, that we need to consider a strongman-fascist option now).

@wdlindsy They would do that no matter what he said or did. So dismaying.

@wdlindsy Once the media fails to do it’s job, which arguably has or is happening, we are screwed not having consistently honest reports that reflect reality. We’ll be hostages to whatever fantasy the media wants us to fall for. Who controls the media? Why Capitalist billionaires who are looking to turn us into their serfs. Why else are they not screaming at the sky that this Trump asshole is the head of the spear pointed at our democracy? Because they’re in on it, that’s why.

@Huntn00 I very much agree. Just as many of us have had to learn some painful lessons about some 40% of us Americans in this period of rising fascism, we've also had to learn some horrible lessons about our media. They are not going to do better, because they do not intend to do better.
