Wtf -- 800? To 3000? Private jets? To burning man? How is that physically possible?

Well you can enjoy BM or not, I was more wondering about the numbers -- 800 to 3000 jets is a lot of metal flying and landing in a silt pile. I'm skeptical.
One private jet is too many, I agree. But what passes for facts these days...
qz.com is the only source of this number. I call bullshit?

@tomjennings probably not entirely bs. Though not all of the things flying at/around burning man are likely full sized private jets (some numbers might include ultralight aircrafts and drones)
See https://airport.burningman.org/about/
(Likely the busiest temporary airport in the world - though that might exclude military) a few years ago had more than 3000 flight operations (but some of that likely are the same planes flying multiple times)

Ahh! Thanks! And doh, I should have thought to go to the source.
3000 flight ops -- that says it all. It must be a great place to fly for fun, flying people out there, up for rides.
The playa at dusk and beyond, to sheer darkness, no city for 100 miles, ringed mountains and post dusk, underlit satellites easily visible... Yeah would be fun.
I guess many ppl thinking of billionaire scum flying in for the weekend. I'm sure that happens.
BM is a technological extravaganza, and I know lots and lots of people dismayed, thinking it as some back to nature thing. Ahhhh no. It's a petrofest, as it must be now and there.
I volunteered at the DMV for 5 years. It was fun.
I just don't want to get that dirty. The heat doesn't bother me. And I don't want to ruin my ancient cars

@tomjennings I’ve never been and with asthma and not loving heat or dust not sure I’ll ever go. But I have a lot of friends who go every year, some who have worked for burning man itself (and/or helped setup/take down the event) and many many others who have made art and had camps there. So I won’t say never to going someday but it is unlikely. If I did go however a huge attraction for me would be the potential for seeing stars and the nighttime on the playa
But prepping for it is intimidating
