Long-time readers know that I am not a fan of What Three Words. I think it is a closed, proprietary, and user-unfriendly attempt to enclose the commons. I consider that it has some dangerous failure modes.

#maps #what3words@Edent Not looking good for them. Let's hope the fad fizzles out.
Also perhaps worth a link to @cybergibbons's blog with some good examples!
https://cybergibbons.com/security-2/why-what3words-is-not-suitable-for-safety-critical-applications/I thought I'd read somewhere in the past about one pair of W3W addresses that were either side of Loch Ness at one point but I can't find that reference now.

#maps #what3words@Edent Do you know about FindMeSAR? I am the developer.
https://findmesar.comIt is an open source (via browser tools) Progressive Web App (PWA) that displays the user's coordinates and accuracy value in several formats including Ordnance Survey Grid. Each format has a different colored background.
There is no cost, no signup, no ads, no tracking, no enshitification. It is my modest gift to the world.
**Not available in any app store.** To install for offline use (iOS and Android) open the web page, tap "No" and then read the "Tips".
For anyone curious about other #Geospatial stuff I am doing, my project page is

#GIS #Maps #Mapping #W3W@mappingsupport It is a good service. As I think I've mentioned before, the splash screen is *so* user hostile.
It needs to be much simpler if it is to be useful and - if I may say so - needs a lick of UI paint to make it attractive. -

@mappingsupport I'd happily do so, but there's no link on the website, I can't find it on Github, and a quick search didn't find anything.
Do you have a link?

Do you have a link?
@Edent The only link is the web page itself. You can use browser tools to 'view source', copy and have at it.

@mappingsupport right. So If I want to send you a pull request, what should I do?

#maps #what3words@Edent Good, it has always been a "solution" looking for a problem as you've written about many times.
