@Edent Sadly, the sipgate basic mentioned in your blog doesn't exist any more for new numbers.

@pitchingniblick you might have success with https://www.iptel.org/
I tried it a few years ago. -
@Edent I miss when more phones had slots for them. It wasn't too uncommon in the past but now I only see it in non US market phones.
other disasters aside, maybe eSim or whatever can allow for it?

@Luissen
I always try to make my writing clear, but it is obvious I have failed on this occasion.What could I have done to make the mention of eSIM more obvious in the blog post?
Thanks for your feedback.

@Edent Potential Problem - online services may not allow registration of these sorts of numbers from more “disposable” services.
Some services already won’t allow VOIP such as Google Voice.
Your cellphone number is quickly becoming an ersatz social security number. (This depends on country of course - not sure if prohibiting certain carriers is allowed under EU rules.)

@DeltaWye is this a real problem, or one you've just invented?
I've had no trouble using disposable numbers in the UK. My Google Voice number works for all the US services I use.
Whenever I travel internationally, I buy a 30 day SIM and it works everywhere from Covid registration to restaurant reservations.
