I wanna say something to people who work in tech-related jobs in America: this is still a field where most people hate the rise of fascism and want to stop it.

I wanna say something to people who work in tech-related jobs in America: this is still a field where most people hate the rise of fascism and want to stop it. I know the media & amplification of the tycoons makes it seem like that’s the whole industry. But it’s not. And we still have power.

@anildash Honestly I think we as a working sector need to get involved in politics more. Show folks that those of us building this world give a shit and how they can join us in building that better world.
-
@anildash I’m in information security and if nothing else, there’s certain kind of work I just won’t do.
-
@anildash I’ve turned down recruiters from Anduril twice now, does that help?
-
@anildash absolutely. There is good here, and we will be fine. I am seeing a disgusting amount of doom and gloom from the younger group in America.... they are scared. I get it... but we as a country have been through so much more. SO MUCH more... but so many democrats (I'm a dem) right now (I would say the far left) is freaking out publicly, trying to start a fuss, and actually sharing BS misinformation. They are doing things right out of the far right playbook. It's stupid.
-
@Vidmo no, it’s real fuckin bad and centrists are underestimating the threat.
-
@uq Yes.
-
@anildash lol. No we don’t. Will bet you any amount that when the bidding opens up for Trump concentration camps Amazon and google wills first in the door. 80b+
Per year? They won’t be able to stop themselves. -

@anildash That is until someone who doesn't like your thoughts fires you, and everyone will align in a line. There is a reason there is no union in tech, you know.
