@feorlen @piebob I can't speak for them, but since the nonpartisan staff of the House effectively work for the Speaker of the House, they have very little power in that regard.
Congressional staff --- the 10,000+ people who help do the work of Congress but aren't elected --- generally take very seriously their role as subordinate to those elected by The People. But https://www.congressionalworkersunion.org/ might be where to look next.

@ArmyGirl This is a Legislative Branch position. There really isn't any talk of cost-cutting in the Legislative Branch since relatively little money goes to supporting Congress's operations in the first place (after decades of fiscal stingyness). It rounds to zero compared to Medicare, the military, etc.
