"The 2024 election is in part about whether women can be free and equal citizens of this republic.

@serendip1959 I suspect such plans may well be in the offing.

"Despite best practices, despite all of the consultants opinions, Donald Trump is fearlessly being misogynistic. I don’t know if that message is going to convince any women to vote for him, but it certainly will resonate with men."

"There’s a really smart researcher on authoritarianism, Karen Stenner, and she had retweeted that—what she said was, Pay attention to how he says the word women. And if you listen to it, it’s really interesting because of so much visceral anger and hatred just dripping off of his tongue as he says the word women. That’s very indicative of Trump’s approach to women in general."

"One of the really interesting things in the research that I’ve done on the neo-Nazi community, white supremacist community, is the way that they linked anti-feminism to their neo-Nazi and white supremacist ideals. If you go back to Daily Stormer in 2014, 2015, they’re saying arguments about anti-feminism as being essential to understanding white supremacy;" (continued in /11)

@wdlindsy Sadly, there are still women who will vote republican and against their best interests.
-
@wdlindsy I think the proposed policies in Project 2025 represent a stark rollback of women’s rights, aiming to control essential aspects of their autonomy, healthcare, life choices. This kind of systemic control over women's bodies echoes a deeply patriarchal and misogynistic worldview, undermining personal autonomy and equality

"The media have obsessed over Black people and Latinos turned off by Harris and various other #Demsindisarray narratives. The enthusiasm of women for Harris is a storyline that has been entirely unexplored."
~ Michael Tomasky
Hmm. Wonder why that would be? What is it about the media (and who owns and controls the media?) that would cause the media to ignore this? (/s)

"THE 'GENDER GAP' MATH IS UNDER-APPRECIATED in coverage of the race. More women will likely show up to vote than they did in 2020, and they will be supporting Harris more than they did Biden four years ago. Trump may be making gains with men. But he’s going to have to turn out a lot more of them if he wants to keep up."

@wdlindsy it resonates, all right. By making me want to see a US government run entirely by Black women for the next 8 years or so. But I'll settle for a Black woman as President, and a House and Senate actually controlled by Democrats and voting for Democratic priorities.
-
@wdlindsy Forgetting surveys...early voting is showing a gender gap of 10% in GA, NC, MI etc...GA early voting is over today. So unless Tuesday is overwhelmingly male voters the gap is going to be larger than in 2020 which was around 3.5%. Now i cannot imagine that the extra number of female voters are breaking evenly. If i am correct...both NC and GA will be called early in the night. I am willing to bet a beer or a chocolate on this logic.
-
@tizan Thank you for that report about the early-voting figures and what they may mean. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and trying to hold onto hope.
