@foone Fun thing that American Catholics hate when you remember - the Vatican Pope is only the Pope of the Bishops of Rome, but even in Christianity they're not the ONLY bishops and he's not the only pope.
There's also the Bishops of Alexandria, who have their own Pope - currently Pope Tawadros II, who took the title in 2012 after the death of Pope Shenouda III

@RandomDamage I think it's less about "how many planets" and more about "communication time".
if it takes 8 years for a message to get back and forth from Alpha Centauri, then the Centauri settlers are gonna have their own pope. If the Centauri church is in a constant Zoom call back with the Vatican, you only need one pope.

@DrakkenZero my personal favorite existing pope is Pope Peter III of the Palmarian Catholic Church, mainly because he makes youtube videos that look like gamer drama callout videos but they're about how the Vatican pope is heretical.
Plus he claimed the former pope stole a BMW, which is just *chef's kiss* pope drama.

@log yeah I think they can stay in the ground. We're really just changing the records, their bones don't need to be bothered. This is about The Church, the divine and infinite one, not the old buildings one. We're just correcting the earthly records of who God Choose as their speaker on earth.

I first read that as "vanAcan pope," which I understood to describe a pope who reveals the truth one letter at a time. Preferably in a frilly frock.
