From that last article: "We also estimate that urban residents who switched from driving to cycling for just one trip per day reduced their carbon footprint by about half a tonne of CO₂ over the course of a year, and save the equivalent emissions of a one-way flight from London to New York. If just one in five urban residents permanently changed their travel behaviour in this way over the next few years, we estimate it would cut emissions from all car travel in Europe by about 8%."

I don't live in an urban area. It's about 6 miles to the nearest town with a shop selling more than bread and milk (4 to the farm shop), but when my car reached the end I chose not to replace it. I do my best to go by bike whenever I can. I should state that we are not car free - we used to have two for work contract reasons. When it's dark, pishing down, and blowin a hoolie, I have been known to take the easy option, but I try hard not to make excuses! #BikeTooter

@ravenbait Safe bike lanes and usable, affordable public transport is what we need.

@gunchleoc We can't just replace all the hydrocarbon vehicles with electric ones and think that will do the job. It's about more then how we fuel them.
