Few months back a white guy at college said ' Jaden you will get a job easy'. why i ask.
Because you tick the diversity box !
This is a real problem that people think we only get jobs because we are black !
Have yall had comments like this?

@Jaden3 That white guy is a racist - straight out. Other than being your best self, and staying safe from people like him, don’t engage or respond to him. People get jobs because they have the skills to do the work. Any woman can tell you, that people of colour and women have to be a million times better at any role to get the job, because so much is designed to suit white men, or relatives.

@Jaden3 I'm white and was a hiring manager (I'm now retired) in DOD. I had no minority quotas, I was never told by HR that I needed to hire a minority. Nevertheless, in a mostly white male organization, it was my way of giving "the man" the finger to choose a minority or woman candidate whenever possible, if I had candidates that met the necessary qualifications. And I will tell you that the majority of the resumes I received for any job opening were from white men who had almost zero qualifications but felt they could name-drop their way into the job. I had no time for that sh*t on my team. My point is, sometimes a minority or woman is hired for a position over a white man, not because there's a quota, but because the hiring manager has already had seen white men who didn't take the position seriously. And never, ever doubt that a lot of unqualified people have applied for that job so it may be quite possible that yours is simply the most qualified resume in the stack.

@HarriettMB @Jaden3 I believe that there are managers who hire for "ticking off diversity-box", but those aren't the managers you want to work for, trust me.
I've been a manager myself long enough to tell you that I'd always first look for the talent and then check the other parameters. Only if the candidates tick off the talent box will I ever consider other parameters (e.g. minority-status).
And when I say talent ... I never looked for people who could give me all the answer - I looked for those who gave me questions, who showed me that they are willing to learn, that they know that they don't know everything, people who are curious, kind, ... and people who are passionate about what they are doing, even if they do it wrong because they haven't been taught right.

@Jaden3 Same with women in Germany - there's even a word: "Quotenfrau" - quota woman.
Without this percentage law, women would have had a very hard time getting Men's" jobs though, so it's sadly still necessary until people do get hired on their merit.
