Everybody that is having an issue with the PS4 Pro pricing obviously aren't in the market for a gaming PC.
-
@pixelworld_ai oops. Typo!
But yeah...I don't see why anyone *not* wanting 4k would buy one...that's the major selling point now, no?๐คจโ๏ธ
-
@BeAware It's still a good deal vs. a PC. Just not nearly as good of deal as the base PS5 was in 2020.
PCPartPicker's Entry Level AMD Gaming Build, upgraded to 2TB NVME & RX 6800 GPU is $830. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/NtFfrH/entry-level-amd-gaming-build
That's pretty similar to the PS5 Pro (has a better Zen 3 CPU, but minus a gamepad).
-
@RxBrad can it do 4k?๐คจ
Either way, I like the exclusives.
-
@BeAware Most of the complaining that I've seen is that it costs $700, and it doesn't come with a disk drive or the vertical stand. Those are sold separately at an additional $80 and $30 respectively. So for the folks who have a collection of physical games, there is 0 incentive to upgrade.
-
@Lorhin that makes sense for those people with OG PS5, but as a person without one, I'm stoked!
-
@BeAware Actually, now that I think of it.. Ever since I started using that Lossless Scaling program on Steam, I've graduated to 1440p upscaled to 4K, with 2x frame gen. Haven't played anything demanding yet, but Yakuza 5 maxes out my 144hz TV's fps and the PC barely breaks a sweat.
-
@RxBrad and that costs similar to the PS5 Pro?๐คจ
Wild...I have a 3090 super and i9 and struggle to get 60 fps 4k...and if that would've costed anywhere near $700 I'd have been kissing someone's ass.
I might be gaming wrong somehow...
-
@BeAware Your PC is already faster than the 5Pro.
Ultra graphics will kick a 4090's ass even, at times. Most PS5 games run at roughly Medium PC graphics settings. To be totally honest with myself, it's often hard to tell the difference between Medium & Ultra.
Medium-High graphics, lean on DLSS, and throw in some Lossless Scaling frame gen (which is essentially what the 5Pro is doing), and you should hit 4K 60fps++ on most anything.
I like my PS5. I just use my PC a lot more.
-
@RxBrad ahhh...makes sense.
I still want the exclusives.โ๏ธ
-
@BeAware Wait about a year, and the exclusives show up on PC, too, now. The online multiplayer stuff hits PC at the same time.
And the games are cheaper on PC. So that extra $130 for the PC gets recovered after you buy 3-4 games.
-
@BeAware Yep, cost 2-4 times that (depending on brand and how much of a powerhouse it is) to do an equivalent or better. I believe someone did a video to match series x and the ps5 and it was 1200-1400 or more (it's been a while). But you could easily drop 2-3k to get a really nice play everything near max for years one.
-
@RxBrad oh trust me, I spent WAY more than 830$ for my PC at the time. Like 3x that much... And yeah, I don't feel like waiting a year, that's a big point for me.โ๏ธ
-
@ppb1701 that's where I'm at. I have that PC already, now I need something to play exclusives.
-
@BeAware Me being cheap overrides me being impatient, every time. :funnyguy:
That's why I'm playing Yakuza 5 and not Baldur's Gate 3 right now.
-
@RxBrad for sure.
I suspect you're a frequent browser of /r/patientgamers? Nothing wrong with that.
Priorities are always different. I'm impatient with most everything.
-
@BeAware Patient Gaming all the way.
(Also, to answer your original pre-order question, see the Wario64 post I just boosted.)
-
@RxBrad I was just linked to a Kotaku article detailing the pre order info. Thanks though!๐ซก
Will be anxiously awaiting Sept. 26th!
