A rare opportunity to see one of the few original prints in person (they pull it out of storage no more than every 5 years).
Heading to Chicago later this year to see it for myself!

@davemark one of the things I love about seeing a work in person is the scale. These larger-than-life (in terms of cultural impact) are often so small in physical dimension. For me, this puts a certain ‘weight’ behind that impact.
I mean, there are oodles of other reasons I love seeing works in person, but that sticks out.

@octothorpe Absolutely. Sometimes, the size is SO different from what you expect. Like the Mona Lisa, or on the opposite end of the scale, Guernica.
-
@davemark YES!! And to be able to really *see* a Rothko, or to physically get inside a Serra…
Fuck. Now I’m feeling really trapped.
::sigh::

@davemark Art is so interactive, and so many folks don’t even know!
-
@octothorpe Ever get to MoMA?
-
@davemark Often! Well, I used to… fun fact, a good friend of mine has works in their permanent collection!
-
@octothorpe ooooo, nice. I try to get there once a year. My favorite museum.

@davemark being 30 mins into midtown manhattan via train gives me such joy, and unlimited options (until about 2am when the commuter trains stop until 5am).
