As outrage builds over corporate media, and particularly the NY Times, deemphasis of the Cheney Harris news, it makes sense to ask why people like NYT publisher A. G. Sulzberger are putting such a heavy finger on the scales for Trump?
Some think these billionaire owners just want Trump, but A.G. is not super rich.
Fascism expert Timothy Snyder suggests another reason. Personal safety.
A. G.'s recent op-ed shows he is aware of the personal danger. Maybe he's scared.

Fascists use threats of violence to get people to, as Snyder says, 'obey in advance.'
Perhaps what we are seeing is a fascist textbook case of intimidation compelling behavior.

@mastodonmigration I believe there are a lot of threats being made behind the scenes. Look at how Cohen used to talk to people on Trump’s behalf. Look at Lewandowski. Shoving people at cemeteries. Telling crowds to attack people and institutions. Talk of retribution. That’s all public. Think of what we don’t know.
Trump is a mafioso. His intentions are perfectly clear.

You may be right. Consistently we have underestimated norm breaking by these guys. It is not much of a stretch to imagine threats of physical violence. To fail to examine this possibility is to again avert our eyes because it seems so outrageous.
