OK, this is going to be a doozy. John Malone's CNN has gotten an interview with Harris and Walz to air this Thursday. Conducting the interview will be Dana Bash.
Harris and Walz to sit with CNN for exclusive first joint interview since campaign began | CNN Politics
Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will sit with CNN for their first joint interview on Thursday as Democrats work to broaden their base’s excitement from last week’s Democratic National Convention.

This is what big corporate media has been begging for. Let's see how Malone's propaganda machine treats this opportunity. Guessing we are in for a protracted game of gotcha, but we will see.

@mastodonmigration Dana Bash is not typically a "gotcha" journalist.

Beg to disagree, but we will see.

@mastodonmigration She doesn't owe the media anything - it's nice of her to do this. Her campaign clearly isn't hurt by not sitting down with the self-proclaimed "gatekeepers".

@mastodonmigration Axios (Alex Thompson specifically) is out there today lying about Harris and the bipartisan border bill that Trump killed because he was worried actually doing something about the border would help Democrats and the major media wonders why people no longer trust them.
I’ll watch it but I agree with you.

@justinf That is exactly right. If Malone's CNN conducts the interview with journalistic integrity, it will be a service to the electorate. If the network goes into this with the intention of corruptly influencing public opinion, as quite frankly they have been disposed to do lately, then it will be more evidence of their unreliability. It is CNN's credibility that will be on display here.

@mastodonmigration there's really no good that can come out of this.
It's a nice sop to old media. But the way forward is to leave the old media behind and talk directly to the country. Which is what Harris and Walz are doing.
It's polite of them to give Bash a chance to actually be a journalist. But, I bet she'll mostly fail. An interesting metric would be to count how many times she asks questions about Harris plans vs how many times she roots the question in something from trumpland... -

Axios is Jim VandeHei. He is one of the worst of these oh-so-very-clever purveyors of disinformation. He is cut from the same cloth as Peter Baker and Johnathan Swan. He thinks he is so tricky nobody can suss out what he is doing.

Indeed. She is not writing the questions, they are provided to her.
Recall in 2022 billionaire owner John Malone fired Brian Stelter and cancelled his Reliable Sources show about holding journalism to account. Since then CNN has tacked hard away from ethical journalism into yellow journalism akin to Fox News.
Did CNN’s Brian Stelter lose his job because of politics or money?
Two theories about the departure of CNN’s star media reporter.

We'll see if they do an even handed job, but recent history suggests they'll pursue their billionaire owner's agenda of trying to get Trump elected.
