Kind of annoyed by this "Trump fell for fake internet theory" stuff. No. Trump is spreading a fake internet hoax in full knowledge that it is not true in order to stoke racism and hatred, and to demonstrate the power he has over his idiot supporters.

@mastodonmigration Trump doesn’t distinguish between true and false. The only two categories he cares about are “Helps Donald Trump” and “Doesn’t help Donald Trump.”

And over party insiders. Every outrage against truth is actually a loyalty test.

@mastodonmigration Rather than "in full knowledge it is not true" I'd write "not giving a giving a f*** whether it's real or fake".

This 100%.Our media and political pundits treat Donald Trump like he is easily manipulated yet they don't find it at all contradictory to also treat him as someone who should be given the nuclear codes and all of the other powers available to a POTUS.

@FifiSch @mastodonmigration I'm researching and writing about this right now, the sordid peculiarity of Trumpian belief. Indifference to truth is certainly on-brand, and so are the underlying racist affects of rage, fear, and disgust.

@mastodonmigration The "babies get aborted *after* birth *by democrats"**** ***and "migrants are eating our pets" are exactly the dehumanizing tropes of *blood libel* which led to the death of millions of jews in Europe. There is even a link between Simon Of Trent and the boy who was killed in that traffic accident with a Haitian man. There is a direct line from that nonsense to what is described in this wikipedia article...

Immigrants eating pets is an old old old old old old old racist trope
As in hundreds of years
Trump is an old guy, and he grew up hearing this, just like I did
It may be new to some sheltered white 20 somethings on the internet, but it's not a new concept
