Seeing #FortunesRun is seriously tempting me to use 2D sprites for characters, like in Doom or Daggerfall, for #ProjectWasp

But it's probably way more trouble than it's worth.

@yora I am loving these return of 2D art in quality games. One benefit is that it’s a good way to bring budgets down without sacrificing all that much.
Project Triangle Strategy is definitely a style I would like to emulate for an RPG

@leroy There is a very strong argument for Fidelity being in direct opposition to Versatility.
The higher your game's fidelity, be it in textures, animations, models, UI, sound effects, voice lines, cutscenes, and so on, the more work it takes to make new assets.
And the more work it takes to make new assets, the more you are limited in adding new gameplay mechanics, new locations, and more scenes.
The lower you make the fidelity of your assets, the more room you have to go wild.

@yora 100% this is why games often begin as paper prototypes. Once you have complicated pipelines you lose out on iteration, which makes finding the fun so much harder.
The worst point is when portions of fidelity are implemented, it becomes much harder to tell if something feels bad or just isn’t fitting in just yet.
