I've been using free sound effects and bought several sound effect packs so far, but some sounds I really need to be unique, so I'll have to look into how to make them. Afaik the options are to record it from real life, use a synthesizer, or compose samples (?) from a library. Is that right? How do you generally approach making SFX (ideally using open source software)?
In my concrete case, I'd like to make something fanfare-like that plays when you complete a quest. Is LMMS suited for that?
