How do other indie developers deal with spending a lot of time on concepts, ideas, art direction, music, game design, to then have somebody come along and just... take it? This feels totally Not Cool to me, what do you think?
-
@gingerbeardman what do you mean by someone coming along to take it?
-
@leroy other developers using the same music, art style, innovations, game design, whole game concepts …without asking. just seems morally wrong, let’s say uncool, and even somewhat of a lazy approach IMHO.

@gingerbeardman thanks for clarifying! I think there is a heavy ‘it depends’.
It’s really hard to draw a line between drawing inspiration and play copying/profiteering. Additionally, so many times copying but executing better is required. There are so few new game concepts, but games keep improving.
But yeah, sometimes it is very clear where it was clear stealing. It’s sad, but I also personally can’t focus on it or else I wouldn’t get anything done.
