Journalism won't save you.
It is too weak, and no longer understands how to speak truth, to power or otherwise. It fails when confronted with fascism, which is supposedly its most important function.
Later, people will wonder why Gen-Z is not watching CNN enough, or subscribing to the New York Times any more, but they are going to TikTok and other platforms, where they can see this.

definitely reminding me "he gets to be lawless, she has to be flawless" (6 minutes in)
"they're not taking the same exam"

@ariadne @mekkaokereke that was really an enormous effort to both-sides a really simple observation. The two sides are not the same, but legacy media can't seem to handle having an opinion that not being eaten by tigers is better than being eaten by tigers.
"Having your limb ripped off by a tiger: the newest weight loss fad?"

@evana @mekkaokereke yes, it is pretty simple to observe "fuck CNN" and move on with your life. incidentally, fuck CNN.

@mekkaokereke After the townhall, I did appreciate the analysis mentioning the double standard.
But what I really think was missing, and why it was driving me up a wall, was that this was being treated like any other election, except for how they treat the endless pipeline of Trump should-be scandals.
"You keep bringing it back to Kamala and Joe Rogan, who cares?" is it. Analysis of Harris is meaningless. It's like criticizing the crust of a pie in a contest when the other one is arsenic.

@mekkaokereke It was interesting to see and hear Anderson Cooper trying to process his patriarchal white male privilege in real time.
-
@venitamathias
He cut the woman off way too much. I loved when the other guy specifically asked her to speak. It's a cringe look though for a white guy to defend himself so hard against what two Black folk are telling him he's missing. Like that right there dude is the thing that should set off your "hold up, maybe I'm wrong" bells
@mekkaokereke -
@venitamathias
He should have spent that air time asking them questions and probing deeper; even if he disagreed he could have gotten curious and tried to learn more. But he was so unprepared for their perspectives, he didn't see what he was doing; he said out loud, why am I defending myself? That's a question he needs to reflect on, hard

Cooper's whole point is that they do have round tables where they debate about who's labeling whom what. And Charlemagne Tha God's response is on target, "so what?" The stakes are so much bigger than these semantics. They have forsaken truth.

@mekkaokereke thank god for Charlemagne Tha God speaking truth right to Anderson. This is embarrassing for Anderson as he bulldozes right over his guests, especially the woman. CTG took it right to CNN and one of the faces of CNN, but Anderson canβt hear him, wonβt hear him.
-
@independentpen @venitamathias @mekkaokereke he says his job is to ask questions and not present any viewpoint. Which is 100% the opposite of what he was doing.
If he can call bullshit to defend a thing he cares about, then the big question is why he doesn't care about people questioning her race
