whoever said money can't buy happiness must not have realized you can buy a little arm that holds your ereader above your face in bed, and a remote so you can turn the pages without taking your arms out from under the covers

just search "remote page turner" and "gooseneck tablet holder" (and check the dimensions fit your e-reader/phone/tablet).

@molly0xfff haha last time I bought one of these I ended up with a crappy one that kept dropping the device on my face but this motivates me to try again

@molly0xfff You might enjoy this photo of my friend in 2006 who wanted to work from bed and... built this thing.

@xabean just read the latest in the Goblin Emperor series by Katherine Addison. I liked it a lot.

@molly0xfff I picked up a no-name gamepad-sized Bluetooth keyboard/mouse jawn at @iffybooks. It has arrow keys to turn the pages, but unfortunately only for my phone; my PaperWhite is apparently too old to recognize it

As a proponent of sleep, I applaud this, @molly0xfff — making bed-time reading more of a passive pastime must surely make it more conducive to falling asleep. Anything which gifts human beings with slumber is grand!
e-readers are already better for this than printed books, even without a mounting arm.

@molly0xfff For some reason I assumed that the gooseneck holder would actually attach to your neck somehow, and having looked them up, I am a little disappointed.
-
@pbloem i think they do also make versions that go around your neck. never tried one, though

@molly0xfff not sure if you heard, but there’s a thing called Audiobook. Not only do you not have to use your arms but you also do not have to use your eyes!

@mtin i will listen to an audiobook if it's my only option (for example if i'm traveling, because i get carsick if i read), but otherwise i much prefer the print format
