"It’s wild to me that Trump’s fascism is only now breaking through as a major news story. Trump’s ideology has been evident from the start, and in every election cycle, his closing argument always comes down to white supremacy, fascism, hate, and white...

"The rally will almost certainly alienate more voters who might have voted for Trump and it is hard to imagine it has earned him one single new vote. (Unless there is a Franz Liebkind somewhere who has been too busy writing 'Springtime for Hitler' to have paid attention to the campaign until now.)"

@wdlindsy the ONLY thing that gives me peace about all of this is that Biden is our current president. If dotard had the US military at his disposal, there already would be no election.

"But worse still, unlike the Bund rally, Trump’s was not a fringe affair. It was led by a former President of the United States on behalf of very nearly half of the American people."

@wdlindsy I hope and pray that David Rothkopf is correct in his analysis of the impact this disgusting event will have on next week's Presidential election.

@wdlindsy I wish I could believe it so, but he was already on the verge of winning at least the electoral vote, and I doubt any in his cult will drop out.

@wdlindsy Any group at the butt of Trumpie jokes should take notice. The NAZIS didn't start with the ovens they started with the jokes that targeted those that ended up in the oven! First comes ridicule, next comes blame, next comes dehumanizing labels, then the roundups begin and camps are set up while the ovens get constructed! Trumpie is already on the round up phase. He's let his flunkies do the first phases along with the help of our Media.

Pretty sure Trump is planning to cheat his way back into office, and certainly he'd be happy for some violence to help hi get there.
"Trump may be thinking the rally will help him mobilize thugs to violence when he contests his loss and we should be wary of that."

@wdlindsy "In 1939, as about 18,000 American Nazis rallied inside Madison Square Garden, newspapers reported that a crowd of about 100,000 anti-Nazis gathered outside to protest. It took 1,700 police officers, the largest number of officers ever before detailed for a single event, to hold them back from storming the venue."
Didn't know that. I knew about one other American...

@wdlindsy The fact that Trump both thought it would work and tried to lure in liberals at the end, combined with his low campaign fundraising amounts, shows how desperate he really is. What his staff allowed to be said about Puerto Rico just cost him millions of votes, and no only from those who are of Puerto Riccan heritage. So many hateful things were said. Jesus never talked nor acted that way. Trump came off sounding like s drunk uncle at Thanksgiving who won't shut up -- or that drunk guy driving home from a bar who needs to be pulled over. Kinda think that's where the "weaving" came from. He's weaving in and out of political traffic and has no idea what he's doing. I actually do suspect he was drunk off his ass yesterday. Either that, or on some kind of drug.

@templetongate I think what David Rothkopf is referring to is that Trump and the other people on stage deliberately alienated a whole set of voters, e.g., Puerto Rican and Latino ones, who may now go into backlash against Trump as a result.

Meanwhile, Cuba looks to the Chinese for help as economic hardship imposed by longstanding myopic US foreign policy brings nationwide blackouts.
The quid pro quo?
Chinese access to Cuban nickel deposits.
The island over which we nearly came to nuclear blows with the Soviets.
So much for American supremacy generally, let alone the white racist variety.
Just need to remind ourselves none of it need make any sense.
It never does in the long run.

Parker Molloy does a run-down of coverage of Trump's hate rally at Madison Square Garden, and concludes:
"It looks like major news outlets have finally decided to call things as they are—at least for now. Over the weekend, reporting on Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden marked a significant shift in how the press portrays political events, particularly those that descend into hate-filled spectacle."

As an encapsulation of what Trump stands for as a candidate, and what he would bring to office, the rally was an effective medium for his closing message."
