And, well, there were other significant networks before the (D)ARPANet's public availability that eventually became parts of Internet, so people who dabbled in FidoNet, and possibly even things such as Télétel or CompuServe, have a claim to belonging to the Original Internet, the internetworks from before Internet was cool enough to join them.
