@killyourfm I need this on the Linux side yesterday.
-
Damn @killyourfm, how many words do you write per day?
I already struggle to publish a blog post per month on my free time, and you seem to be an article-dispensing gatling!

@tamitha YUP! I dislike acknowledging when Windows gains a serious advantage, but this is one such advantage. On the bright side, Fluid Motion Frames IS open source, and I think the smartest minds involved in the MESA graphics stack must be looking at it.
-
@thibaultamartin Haha! It honestly depends. I turned this entire piece around yesterday, testing included. I love writing and I love all things gaming, so it rarely feels like work.

@tamitha I mean, you know at least Valve has to be digging into it.

This is what impressed me most. I ditched the canned benchmark and measured Dirt 5's performance playing an actual race, and the uplift in FPS made a really positive impact. More responsiveness, and the game just FELT faster!
And yes, this is integrated graphics at 2560x1600 without sacrificing image quality!

@killyourfm I hope so. But the APU in the Steam Deck is Zen 2...
-
I'm an OSS and existential crisis type of person, so writing about the impact of OSS on society is how I relax, but I still feel like a slowpoke doing
You've probably been there already, but as someone who has a lot of overlap between what they love and what they're paid to do I can only recommend to pay close attention to early signs of burnout.
In any case, keep up the good work, it's a joy to follow and read you
-
@tamitha Yea... I doubt the Aerith APU has the CPU power to pull this off. But I can promise you Valve probably already has prototypes of Steam Deck 2 in production with Zen 4. They HAVE to, otherwise Steam Deck will be left in the dust by next year.

@thibaultamartin I sincerely appreciate that gentle reminder. I've experienced burnout on more than one occasion, and it can do lasting damage to the things you typically enjoy.
This is why I have been very slow to spin up Linux For Everyone again. I have to know I can handle my main gig first, and at a level that's financially sustainable.
